About Us

As experienced valuers and auctioneers, we guide you through the sale process.

At the Bo’ness Auction Company, we know you are the kind of people who appreciate the value in antiques, jewellery and more. You need to know you’re always getting value. The problem is when you sell goods online, you may not achieve their true value and that can be frustrating. We believe that is wrong and it does not have to be that way. As experienced valuers we know what you should receive from the sale of your goods. With fortnightly auction sales, we ensure top value is reached whenever possible for our customers. Here’s how it works, simply give us a call, make an appointment with our valuer and we’ll do the rest. So, stop hoarding, procrastinating or just thinking about it and let’s list your goods for inclusion in our next auction sale at Bo’ness Auction Company and let’s make some money for you.

Our services include:

  • Arbitration

  • Liquidations

  • Receiverships

  • Relocation sales

  • Stock appraisals

  • General auctioneering duties

  • Estate clearance & settlement

  • Valuations for insurance and IHT purposes

Auction sales can be held either at the client’s premises or our own well-equipped salesroom.

How it works - Selling

Auction sales with Bo’ness Auction Company are an efficient, effective and enjoyable way of disposing of goods you don’t need.

Whether it be a single item or an entire house clearance, we are at your service. Clearances begin with a visit from a valuer. He or she will visit your home to appraise any item(s) you may be considering entering for auction.

A brief inventory and valuation may be provided, and in most cases is free of charge. Discretion is assured and there is no obligation to sell should you change your mind.

You can bring the items to our salesroom personally during office hours or we can arrange to uplift them on your behalf*

(*) Uplift fees may apply

Goods will be accepted for sale up to Friday noon to be included in the next available Monday sale. Vendors will receive payment on the Friday of the same week their items sell.

Commission rates are negotiable depending on value or quantities of items vended but are generally set at 18% (if items are brought to the salesroom and 20% if uplifted from your premises). There is a minimum commission of £2 per lot. Items of £50 or higher value can have an agreed reserve price.

Currently there is no charge for photographing and promoting chosen items in our inventory.

How it works - Buying

Buying at auction is a leisurable experience in the relaxed and professional atmosphere of our salesroom. Our sales consist of on average 400 - 500 lots. Included are items of modern, antique and general furniture. Approximately 250 of the lots consigned are pictures, paintings and ceramics. Silver and plated items are also featured regularly.
